WESTERN LAKE
We have access back to this site, thanks to work by Craig Henderson. This site has been unaffected by lambing in the past, but from now on it must be assumed that the normal takeoff is closed during lambing.
OYSTERSHELL
This site is under new management. The property is now leased by Tim Smith 06 306 9532. He must be contacted prior to proceeding. This site is definitely closed during lambing. Tim lives in the new house at the base of the hill. You will be seen if you fly. Please treat this site with the utmost of respect until we develop a rapport with the owner.
PAEKAKARIKI
As above, work is being done on a new takeoff. Harry Memelink, the owner of the airstrip, and our westerly takeoff, has had problems with people coming on to the property without permission. He is aware of our operation there, and has no problem with that, in fact he's keen to see us continue, but wants to improve the gate, and possibly put a combo lock on the gate. During the conversation, he mentioned that he has plans of building a café/ lookout/ bar at the top of the hill. Definitely a bonus for us, and definitely worthy of some effort on our part to keep in good with him. He's also keen to do some flying tandem PG or HG. He is a pilot himself. Possibly a working bee may be required (hopefully on a blownout day!).
KOURARAU
Ian Carrick is now back on the property as manager. He is OK with us using the site without prior authority, but please adhere to the site rules. (See the site guide)
